through your favorite tour agency (same low prices)
Location:
Because our studio is just one block from the beach in the center of
town, we are centrally located to most hotels and tour
agencies. If walking to the studio is inconvenient, a taxi ride to
our studio costs about one dollar from most parts of Jacó.
Cost: At only $50 per
participant (2 or more people), or $59 per participant (1 person
only, alone, private boot camp) our 1/2 day camps are priced slightly lower than
any 1/2 day tourist activity in Jacó (based on price per hours of
activity offered), making them a very competitive choice for a
1/2 day "tour." (Planning Note: In the USA, Europe, and Canada, a
single hour private salsa lesson can cost you $85-$100 - for a
single hour! We offer you a much more economical way to learn
salsa!).
Dance Partners:
You do NOT need a dance partner in order to attend activities at
SalsaStar. However, when possible, we can arrange for local singles
(male or female) to come in and be dance partners (they dance with
you during the class) for special groups such as all-girls groups,
or all-guy groups. In the case we have available volunteer dance
partners, the dance partner is free to you. This is the usual
case. Occassionally, there may be an additional cost of
$10-$30/dance partner for the three hour activity, depending on who
is available to come in and take the camp. This cost covers the
partner's transportation, beverages, and compensation for time in
case they have to take off work to come in. In the case of private boot camps or lessons, you will dance
with your instructor (you don't need a partner), unless you really
prefer we bring you a dance partner, in which case we will quote you
the cost based on who is available. We have a list of Costa Rican,
Colombian, Nicaraguan, American, etc. men and women who are
available as dance partners for a class.
Uniqueness: We are the
only studio in Costa Rica that offers dual comforts:
air-conditioning and a cushiony sprung dance floor. You will be
taught by elite-level professional salsa dancers,
Andrés and
Wendy,
who will take turns teaching your group. Other studios in Costa
Rica, on the contrary, train local club dancers to teach their
classes, and they only know limited steps of the regional styles -
most of which are NOT recognized outside of Costa Rica. We teach you the international
style you will need to dance most anywhere else in the world!
What Next? Once you
have completed a boot camp, or if you already have dance experience,
you are encouraged to drop-in at night for our locals' group classes
and dance socials during your stay so that you can practice your
skills and socialize with the local community. For those who wish to
learn more and save money, we suggest taking more boot camps or a series of private
lessons with us while you are in town, as they will cost you up to
80% less than in the USA, Canada, or Europe for the same learning
from instructors of the same level.
When you return to your home country, we encourage you to continue your Latin dance studies at a local dance
studio. |
