Latin dance (we
TEACH ALL OF THE FOLLOWING DANCES AT OUR
GROUP CLASSES!) |
Salsa
|
The primary music played at Latin dance clubs. The
"essential pulse of Latin music",
salsa
refers to a particular style developed in the 1960s and '70s by
Cuban immigrants and Puerto Rican migrants to the New York City
area, and stylistic descendants like 1980s salsa romántica. The
style we teach is wildly popular in Latin America, USA,
Canada, Europe, Japan, and in over 40 countries. |
 |
Merengue
|
The
national dance of the Dominican Republic. It is a fast, fun
dance that is very easy to learn. |
 |
Cha Cha Cha
|
Became popular about 1954. An offshoot of the Mambo. Evolved from the "Triple"
Mambo into a separate dance. Upbeat, fun, and timeless! |
Bolero
|
Romantic, and sultry dance! The modern Cuban bolero song originated in
the 19th century. |
|
Cumbia |
Colombia’s national dance, began as a courtship ritual, now an international
favorite. Costa Rica has it’s own version of this dance: Criollo Swing. |
 |
Bachata
|
A beautiful dance once limited to mysterious places in the Dominican Republic, now a
mainstream Latin dance worldwide. Played with guitars and bongos. |
